When I fall,
let me be caught
by who I will become
He said.
Love every man no matter
his rage
He said.
When you hear a sigh of pain
listen to its words
He said.
Know another’s pain
She never said
walking past me with the scrolls
or forgetting
my father’s memory
or speaking of me.
It is my job to remember
and to feel her pain as
Hers matters more
and I can bear mine
and time
favors the fallen
over those who
never have.
