The hanging gardens are not ready

Are you not ready for Warp Drive or Senator Schumer's Antisemitism Awareness Act that will ensconce the IHRA on the Hill? Updated 11.23.24

Dear Mr. Solomon:

I am grateful for your time as I know it is your most precious resource and asset. There is always more.

Conveying these comments to you is a privilege because I have high expectations and am confident that you can reach them.

Politely maintained silence, out of shared derision, is your right, and what you’ve become accustomed to, but that doesn’t mean our tribe has to draw no conclusion from the smoke wafting on the postage stamp Hill. Smoke may not always mean fire, but keeping American Jews in the dark about Trustees’ failure to protect Jewish students by its decades of silence, inevitably means there is dirt. Jews don’t believe your silence means: everything’s good, send us your sons and daughters, because seven Goldman partners would never let Waldheim and Pound’s inheritors in hate impinge on Dr Tepper’s world of allowing the creativity, like Adyn Brendan’s Christian nationalist creations professing the shared core principle of Hamas and Hezbollah:

“Kill all the Jews, wherever you find them.”

It’s a “learning moment.” So, what have you learned? In the words of Professors Anderson and Wagner:

Has Adyn apologized? Expressed any remorse? And, his parents? Silence.

Has President Tepper for empathizing asymmetrically with “Palestinian suffering? Silence

Despite Dr. Tepper’s alternating silence and avoidant rhetoric, no one can accuse me of being an accelerant, I have aimed to remain within the four walls of Hamilton House. Adyn just blew on the embers; he didn’t start the fire as we all have watched Dr. Tepper blow on the embers that Sue Skerrit and other selected Trustees let build.

This planet does not yet deserve our warp drive. Zefrem Cochrane was a friend of mine, Elon is no Zef; especially in his taste in music, as he has none. At least Zefrem listened:to everybody; you, not so much, which surprises me knowing our shared love for music.

Frankly, this would be a good time to reveal that I came here in the 1950s with Spock's father to see if your planet was ready for warp drive. Why would we welcome people who hate our Chosen into the cosmos?

Just to remind you, Bozeman and Zefrem Cochrane, was our second try: was our second try; this, was not our first rodeo.

The first time, Moses called us using the code we gave him at the bush we lit up. As you know, we sent him the Code.

A while ago, we led them out of Egypt under the Pillars of Fire; so, now would be the perfect time to give the 12 Tribes an early look at warp drive; alas,  the new planet they purchased is not yet fully planted with milk and honey, and the hanging gardens are still being planted, so, for now,  we have decided to deal with you humans with words; we may alter course, however. We have exacting standards, so we will not be giving warp to the warped, or those who normalize it; like Sue, Steve and Dick. They need to learn more about the borders. We need to protect the tribes in the stars.

We are one. This is our tribe, we love them, with all their faults.

Again, I will convey these comments to you because I have high expectations and am confident that you can reach them. 

As Moses did with Joshua, looking down on the land he would never enter. Their descendants lately seem spartan, at time, draconian; however, they persist despite Kurt, Ezra, and Steve and Sue, and the others Sue speaks for.

Inform yourselves as best as you can, soon, as Time folds into itself, and it never slows because it just looks for new places to go. Like, people who move to Florida, as it sinks in to the ocean, but good golf. All along, even Ezra moved there. No, sorry Italy. But in 1968, he did receive a standing ovation at Hamilton College, although his finest moment was when he had returned to Italy, after his release from hospital:

“I never was [released].When I left the hospital I was still in America, and all America is an insane asylum.“

Time changes little. Hamilton still applauds antisemites, but in silence.

Let me also observe, as Senator Schumer readies a "show of hands" on the Antisemitism Awareness Act as a standalone bill, that enforcing the new Antisemitism Awareness Act will fall to the next Attorney General. The bill would codify the Trump-era executive order declaring that antisemitism is a prohibited form of discrimination on college campuses and instructing the Department of Education to use the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism that clearly connects it with anti-Zionism.

Then, the bloody dollars at Dr.Tepper’s feet left behind by Hamilton students will truly be the experience in creativity that Dr. Tepper sees as being the paramount Hamilton learning moment. When we were on the Hill, Professors Wagner and Anderson, each told me they could teach the mechanics of writing and solving equations; however, they believed their best students simply knew this:

“how to ask the right question?”

Spock thinks you're okay on this; however, he’s logical, and thinks everyone else is, or ought to be. Spock believes that you know the right question.

I am not so sure. The next DOJ will be mostly led by President Trump’s former defense counsel, who can be tribal, disregard precedent, the law, and they might just get loosy goose-y with the Jew hater rules on campus. This new DOJ will not be your Judge Garland’s snail. Think, kingfisher.

The trend of the Tepper Administration so far reminds me of Fitzgerald's take on the Buchanans in Gatsby:

I’m not interested in a meeting with anyone who doesn’t have "skin in the game"; or, as Charlie Oskar Svenson once told me:

No one who has a dog says this. While Charlie may not have a dog, I think, Charlie never wastes words; he is a black belt, with words, I know, but on the mat, too. We have never trained together.

I do have a dog. I am free to waste words, that is, on you. I know this is a waste of time, but Spock told me to try because “the good of the many, outweigh the needs of the few,” which we have all heard before, especially the Goldman partners.

Trying to shepherd you back toward the airlock before your oxygen runs out, seems heroic, you’ve gone pretty far, and even further out there, and what is painful is that you seem to be anaerobic.
